Mari and I had already decided to power walk from Crystal City into the district, even though we had already wandered aimless around the zoo the previous day, and got off to a later start than we had planned (we went to a "grown up's only" party the night before). Although there are still many museums that I have not been to yet, we went to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History because it is going to close after Labor Day for about two years of renovations. It was about a four mile walk up and over the 14th Street Bridge, past the Jefferson Memorial and the Washington Monument, another couple of miles wandering the three floors (we saw every exhibit that was still open), and then a four mile walk back the way we came - a really good day, indeed.
